Probation
Probation is a sentencing
alternative to imprisonment. This alternative is
one in which the court releases someone
convicted under supervision of a probation
officer. The probation officer makes certain
that the person on probation follows certain
rules and obeys all laws.
Probation is an option that rests within the
soul discretion of the court. The court may not
deny probation for improper reasons, but must
base its decision on certain factors which
relate to the criminal conduct.
