Theft
The felonious taking and
removing of another's personal property, without
his/her consent with the intent to permanently
deprive the true owner thereof. In many states,
if the value of the property is low (for
example, less than $500) the crime is "petty
theft" but it is "grand theft" for larger
amounts, designated misdemeanor or felony,
respectively.
